December Happenings

(Dec. 2014)
Here are a few random things that happened in December that I want to remember.
My niece, Markee works at Thanksgiving Point Megaplex theater. We see her there a lot. Pretty much every time we see a movie, which seems to be frequently in the past few months. Mark and I caught up with her just as she went on break. It was fun to sit and chat with her while we ate some dinner.

On Dec. 16th we went to the Hale Center Theater as a family to watch A Christmas Carol. It was a great production and the girls loved it, even if Jacob Marley’s ghost was loud and scary for Piper.
Piper is all smiles here but seven hours earlier Mark was at the doctor’s office with her. He stayed home from work to take care of both her and Calista. I got a text from Mark telling me Piper had double ear infections. Poor kid. She wasn’t contagious and felt fine as long as she had Tylenol so we took her to play. No way was she going to miss out.

Every year the kids’ school does a Christmas sing for the parents. This year I was helping with the whole production and got to watch from the sidelines instead of the audience. Piper just happened to be near the door I was at so I got to snap a picture of her singing. Calista and Téa had to be all the way over on the other side so I couldn’t get their pictures. Piper is in the front row with the black shirt with polka dots.

My employer forgot to mention this little gem when I took the job: I ‘get’ to dress up as an elf for the school Christmas program. It’s a good thing I like my job and those I work with, and the fact I’m ok with embarrassing myself in front of 1200 people.
Emily and me in our get ups.  We had to pretend to take down names for the naughty list.

You can’t be ‘Santa’s little helpers’ without Santa!

We filled the ice rink on Dec. 22 after seeing consistent freezing temps in the forecast. Mark injured his Achilles a few days before so I suggested he just use the ice rink to ice his foot.

It was a lot colder than it looked.

But sadly, not cold enough to freeze fast enough for our liking. We had to wait days to skate on it.
