Mark had a huge milestone birthday back in March on the 11th. He turned 40! He took the day off work since he knew his desk would be completely smothered in decorations and also, who wants to work on their birthday?! By they way, this is what his desk looked like when he went in the next morning.
The morning was met with presents and 40 blow pops (his favorite night-time snack, second only to a heaping bowl of ice cream).
I refrained from throwing him a huge surprise birthday party since he would hate it. Instead, he and I had lunch at El Pollo Loco, sans kids and then hung out the rest of the day until the kids got home from school then headed to dinner at Mark’s favorite BBQ place, Dickey’s. Their food is yummy.
I did set up a quadruple couples date at Olive Garden the weekend after his birthday. It was tons of fun hanging out with friends and eating good food. Having couples dates always reminds us that we are fun people and don’t always have to be ‘mom and dad’. And since the girls love having their cousins babysit them, we take full advantage of having the cousins come over and watch them.
Mark still insists that as a couple we are only as old as our median age. So, in his eyes we are both 36.5 years old. Dream on! I enjoy being in my early 30’s still!

It was a fun b-day dinner for sure! I was just a little embarrassed to be with such an old man at the table but it was fun nonetheless:) Happy birthday Mark!
