In March Téa and Mark were able to attend the Daddy Daughter Dance put on by the Activity Days leaders from church. Téa spent weeks reminding Mark that he needed to make sure he didn’t plan anything for that night. Mark was happy to go and spend time with Téa but it just so happens that two of Mark’s least favorite things are wearing suits and dancing.
But, he put aside his hatred of dressing up because he knew Téa wanted to go so desperately. He must really love this kid. Don’t they look so charming?!
Mark called me from work that day and asked me my opinion on getting flowers for Téa for the special occasion. I suggested a wrist corsage. When Mark came home after work he walked in the house with a pained look on his face. He then told me he went to Smith’s and asked about wrist corsages and the lady there pointed him in the right place. He grabbed the one there (in the refrigerators with other flowers), got to the register to pay for it and the clerk said his total was $40. Mark had no idea what they should cost so he just panicked and paid for it.
Here’s what he bought her.
It’s gorgeous, don’t get me wrong. It’s just that wrist corsages shouldn’t be that much, even with the jeweled bracelet it came on. Turns out, it is a keepsake corsage. All fake flowers and greenery. Keepsake, as in it will last forever. What I want to know is why it was kept in the fridge if it was fake? I told Téa that she can use this corsage for the rest of her life for any other special events just so we can get our money’s worth.
But, maybe you can’t put a price on the sweet expression that Téa had on her face when Mark presented the corsage to her.
Mark and Téa had a great time at the Ball. They started out with a yummy potato bar and then had dancing lessons where they learned how to Waltz. It was a successful night and the leaders did a fabulous job. Hopefully Téa soaked it in because next time they have a Daddy Daughter activity, she will have to share Mark with Calista.
