First Day of School

The 2010-2011 school year has begun.  Officially it started for Tea on August 25 and Calista started September 1.  Tea was super excited and I still can’t believe she is a big 2nd grader now.  It’s just another reminder that she’s growing up too fast.  Like all girls, she had her first-day-of-school outfit all picked out weeks ago.

Calista felt kind of left out since she had to start a week after Tea.  But she was excited because the day before the first day of school she lost her first tooth.  We noticed a week before that her adult tooth was growing in behind the baby tooth and was almost as high as the baby tooth.  I made an appointment with our dentist to have it pulled since the baby tooth was not wiggling at all.  Thankfully it finally loosened up and fell out, thus saving me money!

And of course we had to take pictures of Calista’s first day of school.

Calista was so excited to be going to the same school as Tea.  Every night for a week in her prayers she kept thanking Heavenly Father for being able to ride the bus with her big sister.  Tea has been great.  I met the girls at the school on Calista’s first day and walked her to the Kindergarten playground, but every day since Tea walks her and makes sure she doesn’t get lost.

It’s still hard to believe I have two Elementary kids now.  Piper and I have great one-on-one time, which usually consists of her wanting to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse all morning long since she doesn’t have to fight the sisters for the TV.  But I put the kibosh on that after a few mornings.  Now we drop the girls off at the bus stop then go for a run (well, Piper goes in the jogging stroller, I run).  It’s been great.  I’m up to running 2.5 miles non-stop which is a big improvement since the knee surgery.  Maybe I can squeeze in a 5K before it snows.

Tea looks so grown up Marcia. She looks like she could be a 5th grader. That headband is adorable on Calista too...you're going to have to point me in the direction of where to find those for Shaelynn. Enjoy you time with Piper. That is great that you are able to run so far...I call 2.5 far because I don't think that I could make it around the block!
