Hmm…where to begin. This post will just be random and in no particular order. There is lots to talk about which most of you will think trivial, but seeing as how this is somewhat of a journal-ish thing for me…deal with it.
First off…Téa is now one of the millions of kids who can ride a bike with no training wheels. Mark and I thought this day would never come. We tried last summer but after two tries she was done. And then over the last year she kept telling me she didn’t want to learn how…ever. She’s too much like me I guess. If she couldn’t do it perfect the first time she wasn’t going to do it at all. For her birthday in May she got a razor scooter and it took no time at all for her to master it and have no fear. Then a friend of mine told me that some kids have learned better balance starting on a razor scooter and then moving on to riding a bike. It was worth a shot. I talked it up for a few days to Téa so she would try to get excited. Well, it worked. She was off in two minutes all by herself. She just needed the confidence and some practice. Now all she wants to do it ride to the park with Daddy.
Proof for posterity that she can ride. This was back in the beginning of August.

We finally got around to planting in our front flower beds back in July when my mom was here. The pretty pink delphiniums only lasted a week until we had a huge storm and the wind snapped them off. But, thanks to my laziness, they started to grow back because I was too lazy to dig up the root ball and throw it away. I didn’t know they would grow back so sometimes being lazy pays off.
Since this picture I have added a ton more plants and flowers thanks to VaLynn (my SIL) who gave me two bags full of stuff from her garden to transplant into mine. They are all starting to grow again, just in time for it to get cold. Oh well. Next year my beds will look great.

This may not come as a surprise but Mark broke another finger two weeks ago. Yup. And this time it had to be his ring finger so no wedding ring. Again. He jammed that finger last year I think and couldn’t wear his ring for a few months. But I think he’s learned his lesson and will no longer play football. If any of you remember last year’s drama (posted here) he broke a finger playing in a football tourny. You can see in the x-ray that the top bone broke clean in half. Nice, huh? This one deserves to be clicked and zoomed in on.
I think Mark broke it just so I wouldn’t feel bad that I slammed my finger in a door back in August. Here’s what that beauty looks like now, a month later.

Here’s a little update on Piper. We are still no closer to getting rid of her Plug (pacifier). Chalk it up to laziness on my part or the fact that if she doesn’t have it at church everyone can hear her asking for more Hi Chews. She just talks loud. At this point I don’t care. It keeps her happy and I’ll just pay for braces in 12 years. She’s always called her Plug “puh-lug” , two syllables. No matter how hard I try to get her to say it in one, she insists it’s two. Whatever. But now for the last two months she decided it needed another. It’s now the “puh-luh-lug”. Maybe it’s her fascination with going around the house singing “la-la-la” like Babe in that horrible movie (which she’s never seen). Who knows. But I guess it’s a catchy name because I find myself asking her to find her “puh-luh-lug”.
Piper is becoming like Téa in so many ways. For now I will mention her obsession with movies. Or TV in general. She could watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse all day long if I let her. But her movie of choice lately (well, the last month) has been “Barbie in the Buttcracker”. No, that is not a typo. If you ask her what movie she wants she asks for Buttcracker. Mark and I still laugh every time she says it. But, sad to say I think that word is on its way out. The other day she actually said Nutcracker. Sigh.

Our ward had a Primary activity two weeks ago and the girls had a blast. It was an ancestry wax museum. All the kids were asked to pick someone from their family tree and dress up like them and memorize a few facts. Téa chose Mary Pierpont, from Mark’s side born in the 1600’s, and Calista chose Susan Witbeck, a pioneer from my mom’s side. They had a great time with it. Lucky for Calista I kept a pioneer outfit my Grandma made me when I was 8 or 9.

My dad came to stay with us Sunday night. It was a quick stay as he was heading home from the Salt Flat races but it was great to have him. He bought some shirts for the girls which ended up being great nightgowns. We enjoyed Olive Garden and endless games of 20 questions. Thanks Dad!
That’s about it for now.
