Home Sweet Home

Téa holding Piper. I promise that she isn't torturing her.
She makes these funny faces sometimes.

We are home! Piper and I actually came home yesterday afternoon, only 27 hours after Piper was born. Tuesday morning at 7:30 my doctor came in to see how I was feeling and I was already up and moving around so he told me if I wanted I could go home that day. I was feeling great but planned on staying a second night. After the doctor left I had a shower and Mark brought the girls to the hospital so I could see Calista and sing Happy Birthday to her and give her a present. My mom met at the hospital as well so she could take the girls for the rest of the day. They stayed for about an hour and a half then went home so Calista could watch the movie Enchanted that I got her for her birthday.

At about noon Mark was sitting rocking Piper and I was just sitting around wondering what to do and I looked over at Mark and said I was bored and wondered why I would stay another night. I didn't sleep at all Monday night and Piper was in the nursery the whole time so why not have a sleepless night at home? I asked the nurses if going home within a few hours was possible and they managed to discharge me and the baby within an hour and a half. It was great! We were home by 3 pm and the girls were so excited to have Piper home. I realized how much I missed my two big girls as well.

Piper's first night was typical of a newborn. I went to bed around 9:30 pm and Mark stayed up with Piper until almost midnight. She whined a little and didn't sleep well until she woke up completely at 2 am. Then she was wide awake until 3:30 am. We both finally fell back asleep from 3:30 to 6:45. I came downstairs to feed Piper then and found Calista trying to play a movie. Thankfully Téa slept until 7:30.

My mom has been a great help the last few days. She stayed with the girls all day Monday and most of the day Tuesday. The girls love their Nonna and I'm happy to say that my mom is going to be here for another month! She has tons to do while she's here with going through all my Grandma's things in her house but knowing that she's here and will help whenever I need it is comforting.

Welcome to the world little Pipemeister! That is what we will be calling her from now on. Let me know when you are ready to party! Or.... sit around and do nothing with our six kids.
