Move over Martha Stewart

Mark laughed at me when I told him I was taking a picture of my masterpiece. He asked if it was a journal-entry moment and said yes, it is blog worthy. For the past few years I have made lemon meringue pie many times. Every time I swore I was going to get the meringue part right and it would actually be fluffy and very thick. Well, over a year or so ago I gave up. I am definitely not a gourmet chef/baker, but I do know how to follow a recipe. I figured I was just not destined to have my meringue pies turn out like they should. This morning I decided to give it one more try and this time I would use my favorite piece of machinery...the Kitchen Aid! Mark surprised me on our anniversary a few years ago with the blessed machine and I guess I never thought to try to make the meringue part with it. I thought of it yesterday when I was making my grocery list and went through my "dessert" section in my recipe book. Here is the final product and I am very proud of my creation. Just another reason why I love my Kitchen Aid and all the very cool things it can do.

P.S. Mark loves my Kitchen Aid too. He gets to enjoy the final product. I actually have more fun using it. And yes, the filling is made from scratch...and no, the crust is not homemade. Like I said before I'm no gourmet baker and pie crusts are one thing I'll never learn to make. Maybe if I lived closer to VaLynn she'd teach me but for now I'm fine with good old Marie Callendar's in the frozen food aisle.

Wow...You are so talented. As for the pie crust..they are so easy. If you can do the mariange then you can very easily do a crust. I would be happy to show you how. Besides, you can make the really good cinnamon and sugar pie crusts treats with the left overs. I could eat those all day.
