Happy Birthday To Us

Mark and I are another year older.  My birthday was Friday and Mark’s was Sunday.  How did we celebrate?  By eating this…

sushi date night

And a little shopping here

And here

Nothing too exciting.  The whole point is to just be out together and enjoy having a conversation without being interrupted.  Every time we go out together I’m reminded how much fun we have.  I love that we get to be Mark and Marcia for a few hours and not just Mom and Dad.  We love taking our kids places and having fun with them but sometimes you just need to be a couple.

Our date night was fun on Friday.  Nothing like having a meal you can enjoy without having to make sure your kids don’t spill their drink all over the table or speed eating so you can quickly leave the restaurant because the  kids have already finished their meal and want to leave.  It was relaxing and super delicious.  I wish I could eat sushi every day.

After walking around Ikea we were done.  I guess being a year older really tired us out.  We headed home at 8:30 then put a movie on.

I should mention here that Mark and I totally think alike.  I guess you know you’ve been married a long time when you get each other the same birthday gifts.  We both got each other new tennis rackets.  Friday I got mine and the day was beautiful so we attempted to play in the afternoon before the kids got home from school.  No such luck, though.  The city hasn’t put out their tennis nets back up yet.  Boo!  It was still school hours so we figured using the Jr. High courts would be frowned upon.

We were going to try again Saturday afternoon and play at the school but Téa decided to puke her guts out early Saturday morning.  At least she waited until after my birthday.  And she made it to the bathroom.  That pretty much decided what we would be doing Saturday.

Mark woke up Sunday morning to find his new racket.  Now we just have to wait until another warm day to try out our birthday presents.  I’m super exited since my racket is 16 years old.  I bought it when I played tennis in high school.  Neither of us can remember how old Mark’s is.  But it’s bent and I’m sure he’d like to use that as an excuse as to why he loses to me.  Now we are evenly matched and it is on!

On Mark’s birthday we decided to use the turkey in our freezer (finally) and have family over.  Our Thanksgiving in March turned out great.  We played games, ate good food and lots of candy.  The perfect combination.  I’d like to add that I won Rage and tied for first place with Jeff in 7 Wonders.  Just sayin’.

Happy birthday to one of the best people I know and would certainly die without! Glad you got to go out and pretend you weren't parents! Very disappointed in your arrival time though. 8:30?? Wuss!

Yay for bdays! That's so funny you both got tennis rackets for eachother. Gotta love the shared marital-brain. :)
