They say it's your birthday! My significant other turned another year older today. He's now considered to be in his late 30's but you would never guess it by looking at him. I'm constantly looking for new gray hairs but he still only has 5 (vs. my too-many-to-count number on my head...oh, wait. I only have blond hair now. I'm over it, really.)
We started the day out by letting Mark sleep in. Yes, 8 a.m. is considered sleeping in. He's still trying to get back to normal since the China trip so the morning hours are his best time to sleep. I finally was able to get him out the door for work at 9:15 which totally interfered with my master plans of showing up to work and surprising him with stuff. His buddy at work is my Sherlock Holmes in my many schemes to surprise Mark with things. Scott assured me Mark didn't have meetings until 1:30 today so I would be able to come whisk him away for a tasty lunch. Since I still had to shower and get ready after Mark left I was running late. But I was able to get balloons (which Calista was adamant about getting), an ice cream cake (yes, another one, this time mint, of course) and a plethora of Andie's mints. Have I ever mentioned that Mark is very fond of mint? Anyway. I finally arrived at Nu Skin with everyone staring at me with my two kids, two balloons, and a huge Cold Stone bag. I think everyone was really just envious. They all wished they had a cool wife like me.
Calista, Piper and I were able to take Mark to lunch to his favorite place which just happens to be across the street...Gloria's Little Italy. I'm still drooling over the calamari I had. Yum. This birthday week has been killer on my waist line, by the way. I forgot to mention Mark's gifts: a Red Sox shirt and a gigantic tub of Jelly Belly's. What more could a man ask for? The girls and I headed back home after lunch way too late so Piper decided she didn't want to nap. Mark came home at 3 pm which was awesome. I think he worked for maybe 3 hours today. And then at Bunko tonight I won a great prize. Mark was kind enough to let me play on his birthday so I should probably give him the prize. We'll see. Maybe I'll share.
All in all I think it was a great birthday. But you'd have to ask Mark. Not sure how he feels about getting closer to 40. It probably doesn't bother him because he says all couples are really only as old as their median age. We are both 33.5 now. This works great for Mark but stinks for me. To conclude our birthday week we will be eating some delicious food at Red Lobster tomorrow night. I can already smell the lobster, artichoke and seafood dip.
