Are we in Canada?

How many of you love grilled cheese sandwiches? It's a staple in almost every kid's life, right? Do any of you remember the Kraft cheese commercial where the kid pulls apart his perfectly grilled cheese sandwich and the cheese stretches from each triangle of the sandwich? My mouth is watering now. Picture the kind of grilled cheese your mom used to make, made just the way you like it. Now imagine your first bite into the buttery bread. You hear a soft crunch sound as your teeth sink into the toasted bread and then you finally get to the warm globs of melted mayonnaise. What!? Mayonnaise, your asking? Yeah, I said mayo! If I were making a commercial or a part of a sit-com you would here that record player sound where it screeches to a halt. Let me explain...

For weeks Mark and I have been seeing the Carl's Jr. commercial for the new Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger. Sounds good huh? I rarely ever want a hamburger but seeing the commercial made the burger look yummy. On Tuesday Mark had the day off for my birthday and on his way home from picking up an ice cream cake he stopped by and got 2 of these burgers because we were curious if they were as good as they looked. I was starving by the time Mark got home so we sat down for lunch and unwrapped the bacon and cheese goodness. I should mention here that Mark always opens up a burger or sandwich before taking a bite, just to make sure no mayo has defiled his meal. You can image the surprise and disappointment we both had when Mark opened his Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger to find globs and mayo, not just on the bottom bun, but on the top as well. Who in their right mind puts mayo on a grilled cheese sandwich? Seriously people? Mayo? Did anyone grow up spreading mayo on their grilled cheese? (If you did then you are probably from Canada. They put mayo on everything.) Now pretty much every restaurant is on Mark's black list. I've been telling him for years now that no matter where he goes he has to ask for no mayo on his burgers just to be safe. I'm not a mayo hater like Mark but I don't love it either. Fry sauce? Don't even think about that nasty stuff. I never realized how much Utah loves their mayo until I moved here. Mark and I are convinced that mayo is taking over the world.

Poor Mark still has yet to taste the yummy goodness of the new Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger. I ate some of mine after scraping off as much mayo as I could but still could taste it. Maybe someday we will go and try ordering this burger again and I will order by saying "I'd like your new Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger, but the normal American way."

I had to laugh when I read this post because I'm of course from Canada - guess I must have missed the "Canadians put may on everything" thing...

Okay, now in defense of CJ's...it is more a burger than a grilled cheese sandwich, right? Burgers have mayo on them most the time, right?

Yes, I think the solution is to tell them to hold the mayo and then you can start going to restaurants again.

As for fry sauce...it is the best and I will fight you at the flag pole about it.

Yes, fry sauce is the bomb!!! I'll be at the flag pole with Meghan. :) I just don't eat burgers, it's safer that way, and then you won't be disappointed...besides the nasty taste and all that. Now for the fries, bring them ON! Tell Mark happy birthday from us. Steve is up there to, and is closer to 40 now. Hopefully he will get his degree before he is in Depends!!!! LOL.

Hey Marcia, if it is a non-mayo burger that he wants he needs to go to Fuddruckers. You put YOUR OWN toppings on your burger, sauce and all. I don't know about a grilled cheese, but their burgers are delish.

Oh, and sorry about your knee. Hope you have a fast recovery and can't get back in the soccer games.
