From the picture you can't really see the part that kept me up until midnight last night. I had an epiphany last night at 9:30 while I was making a sample of what Téa's first grade class would be making. I figured it would be easy and I could whip it all together in a matter of minutes (as can be witnessed by my horrible people-drawing skills). I signed up to present the fairy tale "Rumpelstiltskin" to the class because it's probably my most favorite. I have no idea why. It's not like it's some Cinderella or Snow White ending. I mean, the miller's daughter (who never has a real name in any of the books) does end up marrying the king but there's no romance involved in this fairy tale. The king only marries her because she (supposedly) spins straw into gold. Oops, sorry...rambling. Anyway, with the help of many calls to my mom we came up with this idea for a diorama using a paper plate. While putting it together (like I said...at 9:30 pm) I realized that gluing the tinsel (to represent the spun gold) was not working well. The straw was really easy but I was stumped on the gold. Then it hit me. Now, I rarely ever get these great moments, so I was ecstatic and couldn't wait to tell Mark. Oh, wait. He's in China. So I called my mom. If she wasn't going to pick up my friends were next whether they were awake or not! She answered and did the polite thing and made me feel good about my idea. Thanks Mom!
So, I wound the tinsel around half a popsicle stick and realized I had my spool of gold. Pretty ingenious, I know. Too bad I realized after I was so proud of it that I had to make 27 more of them. The moral of the story is don't be a procrastinator. Or don't volunteer to do Fairy Tale Friday for your child's first grade class.
And they all lived Happily Ever After...
THE END

Simply marvelous my dear! I blew it up twice to see the details and it looks great. Did you have fun drawing 30+ people at 9:30? I think that it turned out great...now we have to hear how Tea's class responded. They will for sure be asking you to do their next big creative project!!
You did a fabulous job! I'm jealous of your creativity and proud to say we are related. :) Rumplestiltskin is my favorite too! Hence "Spinners" being one of my favorite retold fairy tales.
Wow, you creative genius you! Better to call your mom over Mark anyway. If Mark is a guy (which I am sure he is) he probably would've gone, "Huh. Cool." Your mom gave you a lot more feedback I'm sure.
