Museum of Natural Curiosity

The kids and I have been meaning to go to the new Museum of Natural Curiosity at Thanksgiving Point. We don’t have an annual pass anymore so it’s been a little harder to go. The new museum opened up in May and we’ve seen lots of advertising for it. Leslie and Alison invited us to go with all their kids to introduce us to all the fun there is to have there.
We were at the museum (which was packed) for about 3 hours and didn’t see everything. It has something for everyone. Téa took advantage of the water table since there were no babies.

All the cousins played at this spinning table for at least 30 minutes. The huge metal disk in the middle of the table spins really fast. The museum provides all sorts of different sized disks and balls to play with on the bigger disk. Some times you could get a ball to stay in one place and sometimes it would just go spinning off. It took a lot of finesse but they got the hang of it.

A huge portion of the building is taken up with rope bridges and play structures that go up to three stories high. They have a high ropes course up at the top of the building but that cost extra. Téa wouldn’t have done it anyway, even if they do harness you and attach you to a lead rope.
This was as high as Téa went.

We headed into Kidopolis. Such a fun corner of the museum. Piper and Leslie found the marquee and personalized it.

My favorite room in Kidopolis was the music room. It has three little sound rooms inside where you could create music using a computer. They even had a drum room. An entire wall was filled with different kinds of drums and other noise makers that were connected to a computer touch screen.
This room used a computer touch screen to touch notes for the computer to play. You could change the tempo and sound of the notes. It was so much fun. Markee, Piper, Leslie and I spent a lot of time in this room creating songs.

Markee found a harp that used laser lights for the strings. So awesome.

We ventured outside in the heat to see the new playground. Piper convinced Peter to try the teeter totter.

The girls had fun with the earth movers.

We would have liked to stay longer but Téa and I had to head to her soccer practice. This museum definitely makes us want to purchase a family pass again to Thanksgiving Point.
