Maximus

Well, it’s been a slow month for blogging so I’ve decided to blog about the cat.  Yup, you heard that right.  I must be hard up for blog-worthy stuff.  Sheesh.

Max is full-grown now.  Well, I guess in height and length.  His girth might get bigger when he gets old.  He looks a whole lot bigger than he really is since he’s so fluffy.  Max has been a part of our family for over a year now and we tolerate him.  He leaves hair everywhere and meows excessively loud and it sounds like “Mooooom”.  No joke.  A few weeks ago I was having a Young Women’s presidency meeting at my house and Max was meowing his head off upstairs and my friends thought it was one of the kids crying for me.  Some day I’m going to get it on video.

This is what Max does most of the day…

If you can’t tell, this particular cushion on the couch is his favorite.  If we are all downstairs, this is where he sleeps.  Unfortunately, this is where most of his hair resides.  Ugh.

Twice a week I watch other people’s kids and they require naps.  Wednesday I went in to change the sheets on Téa’s bed and found where Max was hiding.  I forgot to take the crib down earlier.  Téa’s room is dubbed ‘The Napping Room’.  For some reason all kids sleep better in here.  I guess Max felt he needed to rest in The Napping Room that day.

Here’s how he looks after a bath.  He looks like a drowned rat.

This cat refuses to drink from his water bowl.  He prefers fresh, running water.  His favorite is the leaky faucet in the kid’s tub.  It drips and is totally annoying when the house is quiet.  Max is pretty resourceful and found this drip months ago (yes, months;  Mark really needs to fix this drip) and a couple of times a day you can hear the click, click, click of the faucet as his tongue hits it.  Even more annoying.

The girls think it’s hilarious to turn on the faucet in their sink in the mornings while they get ready for school just so Max can have a drink.  I think they are facilitating his bad habit.

I’ve probably said this before in other posts, but this cat is totally a social furball.  He can’t stand to be in a room by himself.  Or maybe he just thinks he’s so important that we want him in every room we are in.  This particular day Piper was taking a bath and Mark was in watching her.

The most annoying thing he does (besides scratch on the front door and tear up the weather stripping) is he finds me when I’m making the girl’s beds on laundry day.  It’s like having a 2 year old helping me make beds, but with claws.  He has to jump up on the bed after each sheet/blanket is put on.  He totally thinks it’s play time.  I finally just started making the beds with him somewhere in between the sheets.  He eventually finds his way out.  No one has sat on him…yet.

Love the post! Everyone needs a cat post every now and then. Maximus might get a bigger head from it, but hey, I enjoyed it.
