Happy Birthday Calista

I am seriously wiped out.  These past two weeks have been fun, exhausting and stressful.  And I have the eight canker soars in my mouth to prove it.  The stress has ended, though.  It’s kind of nice knowing that all our birthdays are in the first half of the year.  The rest of the year can just be relaxing (hopefully).

Today Calista turned six!  I’ve been scrambling since I got back from girl’s camp to get everything ready for the party.  Even this morning I was doing last minute stuff.  I hate being rushed but I managed to get everything done.  But first thing in the morning was, of course, presents.

Calista was so excited that all 9 of her friends RSVP'd saying they could come.  We decided to make tutus for each girl since her party theme was ballet/dance.  I thought it would be fun to have each girl make their own.  It ended up being Mark making most of them.  I should have realized we wouldn’t have enough time to make the tutus and do games and cake and presents.  I got a little too ambitious.

The girls played games.  Pin the tutu on the ballerina was one of them.  Don’t laugh at my stage drawing.  I was glad that Microsoft Word had a great clipart ballerina.  I did not want to draw one of those.  It wouldn’t have been pretty.

Here’s the birthday girl pinning her tutu on.

All the girly girls.

The cake wasn’t my greatest creation ever made but I blame that partly on Calista.  She couldn’t make up her mind on what she wanted on her cupcake cake.  So this morning I had to improvise with what I had on hand.

And I guess I should add stuff that I want to remember about Calista right now:

-She is my easy going child

-She is growing out her hair to be like Rapunzel.  When the time comes and Calista wants it gone there will be one lucky girl who will get it through Locks of Love

-No matter how hard I try to correct her, she will always call Café Rio, Café Rido

-She could eat a hot dog for lunch every single day

-I’m jealous of her tan.  She definitely got the Randall skin

-Out of all three kids, she likes Maximus the most and Max likes her the most

-This kid burps more than any other girl I know, and not on purpose

-She does not like me picking out her clothes (unlike Téa who still wants me to dress her every day)

-It’ll be 95 degrees outside and she likes to wear shorts, a t-shirt and tennis shoes with knee-high socks.  And not just any knee-high socks.  They are polka-dotted Christmas socks

-Mark can still make her laugh so hard she gets the hiccups.  I hope this never goes away

-She can entertain herself for hours and doesn’t mind doing things on her own (she’s a lot like Mark that way)
