We decided to change the color scheme of our backyard...from dirty brown to luscious green. It looks great. I took lots of pictures so I could look back at this post in five years to see the difference. I remember looking at a picture of my backyard taken shortly after we moved in to our first non-military house in California. It was one big mud puddle. Now, 22 years later, it looks amazing thanks to my dad's green thumb and hard work. I'm hoping our work in progress will look amazing in a few years. For now, here's what it looks like:
We left a four foot space along the edge of our property for a flower bed and trees. It will look a lot better when we get a fence (probably not for a few years, though). On the left of the picture is the area for our patio (probably not for a few years, either!)
Here's our "patio". We dumped all the rocks we found in our backyard here. There are a ton. Notice there are huge ones. I could barely lift some of them.
This was taken from the back corner. The leftovers from the neighbors looks good. (It's the dark green stuff in the middle if you couldn't tell).
Back corner looking at my garden. It's slowly growing. We haven't had enough sun for it to really grow.
Another angle from the other side. Looks so much better with grass!
Thanks to all of Mark's family for helping us. And a special thanks to my nieces for sitting in the rain to cheer on Téa at her last soccer game (post to come).
