It cannot have been ten years ago that I became a mother. Seriously? Are we that old now? It doesn’t feel like it’s been that long, but on the other hand it feels like an eternity. Parenting has its ups and downs but it makes it worthwhile when you have those few moments where you do something right and your kid is happy. Today, thankfully was one of those days.
The birthday girl and her cat saying good morning.
Téa was super excited to get earrings for her birthday. I’m probably the only mother on the planet that makes their kid wait until they are 10 years old to pierce their ears.
She got spoiled with the Lego house she’s been wanting for forever.
Since I didn’t have all the ingredients to make her favorite breakfast (crepes) I had to improvise with a smoothie. Who doesn’t love a smoothie?
Apparently, cool parents take lunch to their birthday child at school and eat with them in the noisy, messy cafeteria along with hundreds of other kids. Téa wanted Five Guys. I should have seen that coming. She loves their hamburgers because she can get them with lots of onions and A1 sauce. So Mark, Piper and I hung out with Téa while she snarfed down some fries and a huge hamburger then washed it all down with a caffeine free Diet Coke (only the best, healthiest food for my birthday girl!).
As soon as Téa and Calista got off the bus from school we headed to the mall to get Téa’s ears pierced. She was a little nervous but she admitted it only stung a little. They even have a little bear you can squeeze if you get scared. I think Téa only held it because the lady told her to.
She is so happy to finally have earrings!
You would think her birthday presents would have ended there, but oh no! Mark and I decided it was time she picked out a new bike that actually fit her. So we headed to Scheels after the mall to pick out her new wheels.
Then it was off to Del Taco for some more really healthy food. Téa’s second favorite food is a soft taco.
Then we topped the entire day off with ice cream and homemade hot fudge. Aren’t we the best parents ever!
Tomorrow everyone is only eating fruits and vegetables. Period. So happy birthday kiddo. We love you and can’t imagine life without your sweet smile and plethora of freckles. Now you can legally babysit your sisters (just don’t tell anyone you’ve been doing it for a while now) and you get to stay up later. Isn’t life grand?!

Happy birthday Tea! I also am in disbelief that she is 10. That is just crazy! I thought parents waited til girls were 12! That's how it was growing up for me!
