After our Europe trip Halloween came up quick. Thankfully I was ready before we left. At least ready with costumes for the girls. When we got back we found our invitations had arrived from Leslie and Jared for our Murder Mystery. We were excited about it but realized it was 6 days after we returned. We were doing a Murder Mystery at a Halloween Ball. We had to scramble to get our costumes ready but I think they turned out well.
Mark’s character was Poindexe Dorfman, an IT guy. He was to dress up as an astronaut. We did a great job on his oxygen tank and helmet, even though I won’t be getting my mixing bowl back. Too much duct tape to be worth unwrapping it!
Isn’t the fanny pack just the cherry on the cake?
By the end of the night mark was roasting. It didn’t help that he was sick with a cold as well. He was the best character of the night, by far, though. I couldn’t stop laughing as I’d pass by him while he talked with the other guests. No one could keep a straight face while he rambled on and on about anything and everything. Just spouting out facts. Just think of Rick Moranis’ character from Ghostbusters. Mark got so many compliments on his acting ability.
I’m still laughing at his get-up.
I was to the play Toyoka, the fashion model who happens to be severely antisocial and a germaphobe. She also tends to offend people often with her comments. I was to dress up as a geisha. Thankfully, Mark found a costume for me at the Halloween store. Unfortunately, it was more of an ‘adult’ costume, if you catch my meaning. So, I had to improvise and ended up wearing my running tights.
The picture is a little fuzzy but we had to get one together.
A few days after our Murder Mystery party it was finally time for Halloween! The girls couldn’t wait.
Presenting Arwen, Little Red Riding Hood and Cleopatra.
Piper made it totally easy on me this year. We had everything for this costume in the dress-up box.
Calista was so good to choose something that was already in the Halloween box. She loved being Cleopatra.
She even let me put on makeup…barely. Téa had to help me convince Calista it would totally make the costume better.
And our lovely Arwen. If you all don’t know who Arwen is I might not talk to you anymore. Téa is halfway through The Two Towers book and she knew instantly that she wanted to be Arwen for Halloween. I had no clue as to how I would make this come about but I remembered that Leslie had made an Arwen costume for one of her girls a few year ago. And wouldn’t you know, it fit Téa perfectly! Leslie definitely saved the day.
And since I didn’t have to spend a dime on any of the costumes this year I splurged and spend $7 on Amazon and got Téa Arwen’s Evanstar necklace. It was perfect.
The girls always have to get a picture of themselves with our family witch.
After school I realized we never carved our pumpkins so we quickly did that before dinner so we would have them all ready for trick-or-treaters.
Make sure you notice that everyone is in short sleeves and there is no snow on our porch. It was a beautiful Halloween day. Temp was upper 60’s and amazing. I had short sleeves and bare feet sitting out on the porch passing out candy until 8:30 pm that night. Best weather ever on a Halloween night.
