This year Calista’s dance company decided to do a Wizard of Oz theme for their Spring Recital. I missed the recital due to Youth Conference but I was able to watch her dress rehearsal and catch a few practices. Thankfully, Mark recorded the recital night and Calista did a fabulous job.
I owe a big thanks to my nieces Markee and Marin for being my make up/hair crew. Mark was NOT going to curl Calista’s hair or even attempt to do her make up so I called in reinforcements since I was gone. They did a great job and I think it helped Calista feel super special on her recital day. She was also able to have her Grandpa and Grandma there to watch her dance!
Here she is before her dance number.
I love this one. She is probably wondering when Mark will be done taking pictures. I’m just glad he remembered to take some!
Here’s Piper waiting for the recital to begin. Mark brought noise canceling headphones for Piper this time. All the other recitals we have gone to the music has been so loud that Piper just screams, and Mark ends up in the lobby holding her. This time he thought ahead.
Calista and Lauren were dance partners for this song. They are great friends as well.
They danced to “What is This Feeling?” from Wicked. Calista is Glinda and Lauren is Elphaba. It was such a cute dance and hearing the song makes me want to see Wicked. Mark even bought the soundtrack for us. The girls insist we listen to it in the car all the time. Someday we will see the musical. For now I will enjoy listening to the song and watching Calista dance to it.
