Memorial Day Fun

In keeping with tradition we gathered together with Mark’s family for food and games on Memorial Day.  This year we brought with us a new toy to share.  My dad has finally bequeathed the Green Car to me.  This car holds some great memories for me…which I will save for another post so I can give it the credit it deserves.

Both Mark and I took the nieces and nephews for a quick spin (one at a time, of course).  Those who could drive were able to experience the awesomeness of no power steering or power brakes (this car will definitely not be able to stop on a dime).  And the leg workout you get when using the clutch.

Josh taking the Green Car for a spin…under Mark’s ‘supervision’.  Not that he needed it, of course.  This baby only goes about 55 mph.  And on a windy day, I wouldn’t go over 50.

And finally Jeff and Alison.  I’m pretty sure if Alison didn’t have potatoes cooking in the oven at the time and dinner was almost ready, Jeff would have had their joy ride lasting a few hours.

I know I say this frequently but I love that we live so close to family.  I feel so lucky/blessed to be a part of Mark’s family.  And to have some of them living so close to us is great.  And every year gets better.  With all my nieces and nephews growing up it’s awesome to watch them mature and grow up and get to know them on an adult level.  We now have 4 graduated from High School which makes me feel old.  I first met them all when they were so young.  Time sure flies!
