I’m happy to report that Piper is now halfway through her journey to becoming a big girl. About a month ago Mark came home and said it’s time to go on a trip to visit my parents in Lompoc and while we were down there, we’d head to Disneyland. Of course I was super happy that we’d be making the trip to California since my parents will only be there until June and then they retire and move to Nevada. It will be the last time I see my house and the town I grew up in. Disneyland is just an added bonus!
I realized, though that Piper is still in a crib and the only crib at my parent’s house was a pack ‘n play and most hotels use those as cribs as well. Piper can’t even fit in a pack ‘n play. She barely fits in a regular crib. So I broke down, gave in, bit the bullet (what ever you want to call it) and decided that we needed to get Piper used to a big girl bed before we set off for California. It’s been almost a month now and she has done the best out of all our kids. I keep thinking that if it weren’t for this trip coming up, I probably would have kept her in the crib until she was three. She loved her crib and never tried to climb out.
Here’s the room now. We skipped the toddler bed completely and went straight to the twin bed. The toddler bed uses the same mattress as a crib and Piper pretty much outgrew that.
If you noticed, Maximus likes her new bed, too. And looking at these pictures, the walls look really, really bare now. I need to do something about that. Too bad I’m so not crafty.
I mentioned that Piper is half way there to becoming a big girl. If you haven’t already guessed, the other half is getting potty trained. The other bonus to this trip is that I get to put that off until after we get back. There was no way I was doing that right before a trip to Disneyland.
